You’re Functioning — But You’re Carrying a Lot
You show up for your work, your family, your responsibilities, and from the outside, it looks like you’re doing fine. But internally, you may feel:
Stuck in patterns you can’t quite explain or change
Frustrated with your reactions, stress, or relationships
Disconnected from purpose, fulfillment, or even yourself
Burned out from trying to keep it all together
You might not use words like "anxiety," "depression," or "trauma" but you know something isn’t working. Therapy can help you make sense of it.
A Therapy Space Built for Men Like You
At Redwood Psychology, I specialize in working with men who are high-functioning, insightful, and ready to do the deeper work; not just symptom relief, but real change.
You don’t need to have a “crisis” to start therapy. Many of the men I work with are professionals, leaders, fathers, and partners who simply want to feel more grounded, connected, and in control of their lives.
I get it. It can feel weird for two dudes to sit down and talk about feelings. But this work is about understanding your patterns, not diagnosing what's wrong with you.
How I Work
My approach is:
Relational – Change happens through the therapeutic relationship
Insight-oriented – We’ll explore how past experiences shape present patterns
Psychodynamically informed – Not just coping tools, but lasting transformation
Direct and collaborative – No vague nodding or endless silence
Therapy isn’t about fixing you. It’s about helping you understand yourself in a deeper, more honest way. That’s what leads to real movement.
Common Issues I Help Men Work Through
High-functioning anxiety, depression, and internal pressure
Burnout and career-related stress
Major life transitions
Marital and relationship difficulties
Emotional disconnection or numbness
Irritability, frustration, and struggling with lack of patience
Family dynamics, fatherhood, and generational patterns
Self-doubt and imposter syndrome
Questions of identity, purpose, and direction
You don’t have to do it all on your own. Therapy can help you think more clearly, feel more deeply, and act more intentionally.
Why Work With Me
Because you’re carrying a lot even if not many people see it. You’re showing up for work. You’re showing up for your family. From the outside, maybe it looks like you’re managing just fine. But internally, it might feel like you’re running on fumes, stuck in your own head, or unsure how much longer you can keep juggling everything without something giving.
I’ve worked with hundreds of men, including other professionals and dads, who are in that exact spot. Whether it’s work stress, relationship strain, burnout, or just a nagging sense that something’s missing, you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. Therapy is a place to hit pause, reflect, and start sorting through the things that aren’t working.
I’ve studied masculinity in depth. I wrote my doctoral dissertation on masculinity: what we’re taught about strength, control, emotional restraint, and "being a man," and how those expectations shape our relationships, our parenting, and how we treat ourselves, for better and for worse. You won’t get a lecture or judgment here, just a thoughtful, informed space to unpack as much as you want to.
Therapy with me is practical, respectful, and real. No vague psychobabble. We’ll focus on what matters to you, whether that’s improving how you show up in your relationships, being more present with your kids, handling stress differently, or figuring out what’s next in your career or life.
We’ll go at your pace. You don’t have to bare your soul on day one. We’ll figure it out together, session by session. The goal isn’t just to “feel better”; it’s to actually understand yourself more deeply and start making intentional choices that fit the kind of man, partner, and father you want to be.
I bring clinical depth and a grounded presence. I’ve worked in hospitals, research centers, community clinics, and academic medicine. I’ve helped hundreds of men make meaningful change without feeling pathologized or talked down to. I’ll bring both perspective and partnership and treat you like the capable adult you are.
