Why
"Redwood Psychology"?
What's the deal with redwood trees?
"What's in a name?"
William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, Act II, Scene II

Redwoods
are huge
Redwood trees are the largest and some of the longest-lived trees on the planet. Some are big enough to drive a car through. Visiting a redwood grove is a humbling, awe-inspiring experience.
They get their strength from each other
Despite redwoods being the largest trees on the planet, their roots don't grow very far down. Instead, their roots grow outward. By interweaving their roots together, the entire grove withstands punishing coastal winds. A redwood never grows alone.

They need fire to reproduce
Redwood trees need forest fires to reproduce, and they have thick bark that helps them withstand the heat. Not only do forest fires clean out the undergrowth and make room for redwood saplings to take root, but the redwood seed pods require the heat of a forest fire to open up and begin to grow.
So why "Redwood Psychology"? Because...
Healthy people are like healthy redwoods
Healthy people can be awe-inspiring when they are
living out of their joy and passion.

They get their strength from each other.

Life's fires don't destroy them. Instead, healthy people can
find ways to connect and grow through adversity.
